Wire-Mesh Glass
The Wire-mesh glass is created by embedding a metal wire grid (stainless steel) within a rolled glass sheet. Made of either clear or colored glass, wire-mesh glass represents an early attempt in the creation of a safety glass product.
Wire-mesh glass possesses characteristics such as higher elasticity and improved integrity upon breakage compared to float glass. Finally, additional to its decorative value, the existence of the stainless steel grid has been shown to bestow a level of resistance to fire, making wire-mesh glass a potential solution for such applications.
