Switchable Glass
Switchable glass is laminate glass, whereby a thin interlayer of nano-scale particles
suspended in a liquid are randomly organized thus blocking, absorbing and diffusing
light. The visual result is similar to that of sandblasted glazing.
However, when voltage is applied to the interlayer, the suspended particles align
and allow light to pass, switching the glazing into a transparent state. Switchable
glass can be installed either in single or double glazing configurations, as there is
no restriction to the type and processing of applicable glass substrates. This type of
glazing is not held in stock, therefore pre-ordering is necessary.
